How it works
The watch keeps an eye out
On the wearer's Apple Watch, Close By looks for warning signs such as a fall, an unusually low heart rate, or a long stretch without moving during waking hours.
It asks first
The watch taps their wrist and asks "Are you OK?". One tap on I'm OK and nobody is bothered.
Family hear if there's no answer
If they tap I need help, or don't answer in time, their family get an alert on their iPhone, and a text message if they choose.
Someone says "I'm on it"
The first family member to respond lets everyone else know. If nobody does, Close By alerts the next people on the list.
Built with privacy in mind
Heart rate, steps and movement are read and checked on the watch itself. They are never uploaded. Close By only shares that a check-in happened and why (for example, "no movement for a while"), and only with the family members the wearer has linked. There are no adverts, no tracking and nothing is sold. Read the privacy policy.
